Job Description:
The IT manager is a hands-on person managing network and helpdesk operations, supporting network infrastructure and performing troubleshooting, problem analysis and disaster recovery for WAN/LAN networks. The IT Manager is responsible for the organization's technology infrastructure including computers, servers, network, telecommunication and any help desk activity.
Other duties include:
- The IT Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational availability of the organization's following areas:
o Computers including desktops and notebooks, including 20+ remote users o Servers used on the internal network o Networks and related devices including switches, router, firewall, wiring, printers, copiers, and backup power supplies (UPS) o Server backups o Telecommunication systems including telephone system, wireless handheld devices, cellular telephones, fax devices and Telco lines o Security of all of the organization's technology hardware and software equipment. o Manages organization's email system and related software.
- Research and purchase all technology within the organization as well as review and approve invoices for payment.
- Review and coordinate maintenance/license renewals and support for hardware and software.
- Respond and follow up on critical system events and notifications.
- Complete helpdesk requests and follow up as needed.
- Review, recommend and coordinate network infrastructure, hardware and software improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
- Review and update standard operating procedures and controls for SOX compliance.
- Assist in preparing technology budget for capital and operating expenses.
- Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future network operations and business needs.
- Manage full life cycle IT projects.
Requirements:
- Familiar with VLAN, TCP/IP methodology, network routing, network monitoring, 802.11x
- Post secondary education or training in information systems.
- Knowledge of Windows 2003, XP and Linux required.
- Prior experience with MS exchange and Outlook 2003, Active directory, group policy, DNS, DHCP and WINS.
- Check point firewall, firewall policy, site-to-site and secure client VPN
- VMWare Technology
- Must be available for network support during non-business hours as needed
